I have been playing guitar since I was 13 years old and it has been the most worthwhile desicion I have ever made. I was first inspired to play when I heard the main riff to Money for Nothing by Dire Straits and a greatest hits compilation of Jimi Hendrix tunes. I later got turned on to Metallica, Maiden, Megadeth and Pantera and have not looked back.
I played bass and guitar in a variety of bands in school including a Jazz band, the Northern Big Band and in the house band for various musical productions. After finishing school at 18 I moved to Bradford started my first 'propper' rock band 'Burst Rondo' (www.myspace.com/burstrondo). We recorded 3 EPs, 1 album and arranged and played 4 tours. In total we played over 300 gigs up and down the UK with some very inspirational acts.
Today I play in Impostors (www.myspace.com/impostorsuk) which is pushing my playing into heavier, darker and more technically challenging directions. I also play in a Primus Tribute band from time to time. I have also been teaching guitar in the Leeds area since January 2005. I aim to make this my full time job soon.
With the help of Tom Hess I see no boundaries to my development. My playing has come on in leaps and bounds and I am much more confident in myself and in my abilities. Tom's Music Careers Mentoring Program has shown me that anything is possible with the correct attitude and mindset. I have a great deal to thank Tom for when I eventually meet him as studdying with him has been a truly life changing experience. Thanks Tom. I look forward to my future more than ever now!
